TodayAPR vs Simba 3:30pmPrimus National Football League champions APR FC squares off with their UPDF (Ugandan army) counterparts Simba in a friendly match this afternoon at the Amahoro stadium. The two army sides of Rwanda and Uganda will be facing each other for the second time following last year’s clash which ended 2-1 in favour of Simba in a friendly played in Mbarara, Uganda.APR head coach Eric Nshimiyimana told Times Sport yesterday that they will take this match seriously. “For us, it is an international match and we’re taking it seriously. I am not gong to underestimate them by fielding a second team. I intend to use the same players I’ve used in the league as we build a strong team,” said Nshimiyimana. However, the former Amavubi skipper will miss the services of his experienced goalkeeper Jean Claude Ndoli, who got injured against Espoir in the local league.Today’s match is being played to mark the closure of the Ushirikiano Imara 2012 military exercise, which has been ongoing at Rwanda Military Academy in Gako, Bugesera District, and Lake Kivu Serena Hotel in Rubavu District. The military exercise, which has brought together 1,680 armed forces personnel and civilians from the region, is aimed at improving the capabilities of EAC partner states’ armed forces to combat complex security challenges that might besiege the bloc.Currently, Simba are in the 12th position of the Bell Super League having registered only 4 points from 4 matches.APR is in 3rd position in local league.
