Every woman should own a passport, no ifs and buts about it. Even if it sits at the bottom of your drawer most of the year, you should still own one because you never know when you may need it.Scenario: You win a trip to Mombasa for you and three of your friends. All your friends have passports but you don’t. You have to take the trip within the next week, or the offer is given to someone else. Your passport will take 7 working days to be processed…so what do you do? You have to give it up of course. Not only will your friends hate on you for a bit but you would probably hate yourself for a bit too.Everyone loves a travelled person. You automatically have a sense of responsibility and are part of a group of people who have seen somewhere else apart from their hometown. Personally, I have had a passport since I was a baby and in the last five years have got to see some awesome places that I would have never thought I would get to see.I know, I know, it’s a bit harder now that you a working girl and its hard to get time off, but to be part of the cool travellers club you don’t have to venture to the Amazon forest of Brazil (it would be pretty awesome if you could go) but all you have to do is cross the borders or catch some cheap flights around our beautiful continent. Also every woman must try travelling alone. Believe me, I have travelled with groups of friends, and while it is fun having tequila shots on some ocean front bar, you should try to go to a new place alone. A place you have always dreamt of. You’ve always seen yourself trekking the Great Wall of China? Or having a cool beer on one of the Greek Islands? Well book that ticket and go! You shouldn’t wait for your best friend to sort through her calendar for you to have an experience of a lifetime. It must sound intimidating but honestly, I think that will be a story to share with family and friends and it’s a great conversation starter. Plus, if you survive a vacation alone, you immediately come off as quite independent and that you don’t depend on anyone for fun but yourself! You work hard all year long. So, why not escape the madness for a week or two and try out a new place you’ve never been, meet new people and just have fun?
