Rwandan gospel star Israel Mbonyi put up a massive show last night at the Birmingham Palace of Brussels during a historic concert that brought together thousands of his fans based in Europe. Dubbed ‘Mbonyi Live in Brussels’, tickets to the show that took place on Sunday, June 11, got sold out 24 hours before D-day of the event, something that last happened a while ago, according Justin Karekezi, the brains behind the show. “This was a historical event. We have invited a lot of great artistes from Nigeria but this is the first time the tickets sold out before the actual day. It shows how much this guy is loved!” Karekezi said after the event. Speaking to The New Times, Alex Muyoboke, a renowned musician’s manager who is among the team traveling Europe with Mbonyi, said that last night’s concert was a win for Rwanda’s music industry. “We have never received this kind of love in Brussels before. It was a success!” Muyoboke said. Israel Mbonyi performed for two hours, from his popular songs produced in the early days of his music career, to the recently released tracks like 'Nk'umusirikare', 'Yaratwimanye', 'Icyambu' and many others. After Belgium, Israel Mbonyi is expected to perform in France and Sweden.
