Nigerian police have dispatched 20 armored vehicles to the riverine areas of Ondo State in the southwest, ahead of Saturday’s gubernatorial election.Inspector General of Police Muhammed Abubakar on Wednesday announced the deployment in Akure, the state capital, after meeting with political stakeholders in the state.He assured that the police were poised to provide adequate security before, during and after the election.The people need not to be scared of the presence of the security personnel during the polls, he said, adding that they were in the state to protect lives and property.Abubakar said four security outfits would man the polling units during the election and that each of the 18 local government areas in the state would have one unit of mobile police to provide adequate security to voters.
