Bank rewards three in monthly draw

Ecobank Rwanda has rewarded three of its customers for making savings in the ongoing “Win Big with Ecobank” competition. The bank’s Head of Product and Marketing, Doreen Mabathiene, said the competition is aimed at encouraging customers to save money in their accounts rather than spend it. To be eligible, a client is required to deposit Rwf60,000 on their existing or new savings or current account.“When you analyse the market, if you find out that people are not making a lot of savings, then you come up with an idea to help them save,” she said on Friday, during a ceremony to hand over monthly prizes to winners at the bank’s head offices in Kigali.The draw started in July this year. The grand draw is set for November when the lucky winner will be announced. The winner is expected to walk away with a brand new car.“We said, as a bank, let us do something. Right now, this promotion is aimed at helping people to learn how to save, “To maximise the chances of winning prizes, you need to keep depositing more money,” Mabathiene added.Some of the prizes in the monthly draws include refrigerators, android smartphones, microwaves and laptops.A Kigali trader, Francois Habimana, who won a refrigerator in the recent monthly draw, said the initiative was a windfall to his family. “...Now I won’t pick money from my business to buy a fridge for my family,” he elatedly told Business Times.
