Djabir frustrated with latest Amavubi snub

VETERAN SC Kiyovu midfielder Djabir Mutarambirwa is a disgruntled man after he was overlooked in the Amavubi team for the upcoming pair of international friendly matches against Botswana and Namibia.Mutarambirwa, who has helped Kiyovu to three consecutive league wins this season, is considering quitting international football.He said yesterday, “I have not retired from international football because I have not been part of the national team, but I am not happy because I have been ignored once again.”“I don’t know if I have not impressed the (national team) coaches, but what I know is that I have played to my best for my team (Kiyovu), which leads the league table,” the former APR star told Times Sport in the wake of his latest snub.He stated, “I last played for Amavubi in 2007 but I will not let this latest snub rush me into ending my international career. I will continue doing my best for Kiyovu. I feel, I am worth that jersey and am ready to heed the call whenever it comes.” Amavubi travel to Gaborone on October 8 ahead of the first friendly against Botswana two days later.From Gaborone, the team will head to Windhoek on October 11 for the second friendly match with hosts Nambia’s Warriors on October 13. The return leg against Namibia is set for November 11 in Kigali.SC Kiyovu has three players on the national team. They include; Alexis Ngirimana, Aimable Niyikiza and Patrick Umwungeli.The trio has been influential for Jean Baptist Kayiranga’s table topping side. Kiyovu lead the league standings with nine points after three rounds of matches played so far.
