Rwandan dancers shine at World Tourism Day

The Indian Merchants’ Chamber, a Premier Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India, hosted a cultural extravaganza to celebrate World Tourism Day.The event commenced with a medley of songs sung by a Choir of visually impaired young boys from the Happy Home and School for the Blind.They sang popular songs in English, Hindi , Spanish , Turkish and even in Japanese. The welcome dance was performed by Chevelyn De mello, an outstanding student who was recently crowned “ Miss Xavier 2012. “The charming young ladies from the Rwanda Students Association, Karnataka, then took centre stage. The dancers, Alida, Irene, Janet and Joyeuse led by the dynamic Chacy Umuhoza , performed a series of graceful Rwandan dances , which were well received and much appreciated. By the distinguished audience present, the traditional costumes worn by these students gave the performance a touch of class.Entertaining performances were also given by students from Botswana, the Lernium School and K.C. College of Arts, Science and Commerce. The principal sponsor, Cox and Kings Global Services as well as the Airline partner , Sri Lankan Airlines , made interesting product presentations. In addition, the Airline offered complimentary round trip air tickets to Europe, South East Asia and Colombo for the lucky draw. Attractive prizes were offered by the other sponsors.The Medical Tourism partner , Dr. Sejal’s Modern Homeopathy Clinic presented each and every guest with an attractive travel medical kit.Botswana’s lively and energetic “Skin Dance “ during the cocktails and dinner, brought the curtain down to a very entertaining programme. Chacy Umuhoza , General Secretary and Culture and Entertainment Associate remarked : “ We are very pleased to have been invited by the Rwanda Development Board and the Indian Merchants’ Chamber , to perform in Mumbai .”
