FORMER national volleyball team coach Paulo de Tarsio has expressed his interest to work with the team again, according to reports.The Brazilian was in charge of the national team for one year, in 2010, but his bosses, Rwanda Volleyball Federation, refused to renew his contract and he signed for Sao Caetano in his native Brazil.“One year ago they invited me to work there (Qatari), I refused because my contract here ends in 2012..., they contacted a friend of mine, Mauro Grasso, and he asked me about Brazilian players but I told him why not Rwandan players and he liked the idea.“...Now Mukunzi and Gasongo are there and Placide will be next, my plan is to help more Rwandan players turn professional,” Paulo told Times Sport by email from Brazil.Paulo was instrumental in national team captain Christopher Mukunzi and Vincent Dusabimana ‘Gasongo’ joining Qatari first division clubs. Placide Sibomana ‘Madison’ of Lycée de Nyanza is a target for another unnamed Qatari club.Gasongo signed for An-Aghallfa Sports Club, while Mukunzi signed for Al-Arabi Sports Club recently for undisclosed fee.The pair has been plying their trade in the Algerian first division league for the last two seasons. Former Rwanda National University star Gasongo has been playing for Etoile Sportive de Setif while former Kigali Volleyball player Mukunzi was with USM Alger.“Rwanda has always been close to my heart, I want do everything that I can to help the players, and I hope one day I will come back to work there (in Rwanda)” the former national team coach said.He pledged, “If the federation one day decides to work with me I can come back... and I really want to help the players.” During his one year stint, the former Brazilian international helped Rwanda’s U-20 to reach top four in Africa for the first time.
