ULK student wins MTN’s last ‘Sharama’ car

A fourth year Accounting student at Kigali Independent University (ULK), Audace Niyomugabo, on Tuesday, won a brand new car, the last of the three cars in the MTN ‘Sharama’ draw, that started in July.The 26-year-old received the car at an event that also marked the 14th anniversary MTN Rwanda. “This is beyond my expectation, I am not sure I now own a car, it’s unbelievable,” Niyomugabo told The New Times after receiving his prize.The draw has seen three of the telecom company’s clients own cars, with several other people winning motorcycles, laptops , bicycles, mattresses, mobile phones and modems as well as cash prizes .The first car was won by Savio Uwumukiza, a senior six student at St Justine College, Nkanka in Rusizi District, estern Province, while the second was taken by Dina Nyirabanyiginya, 24, a shop attendant in Kicukiro District.Other lucky winners interviewed, including those who won bicycles and motorcycles, said that the prizes would bring them a side income while the laptop and modem winners were eager to use the gadgets to access the Internet.A heavy downpour later interrupted the entertainment that had been organised to spice up the event. Although this year’s Primus Guma Guma SuperStar first-runner-up Jay Polly managed to perform, the crowed missed other performances from artistes such as Knowles, King James and Uncle Austin. MTN Rwanda Sponsorship and Promotion Coordinator, Alain Numa, said that all prizes that were given out during the draw cost the company over Rwf90 million.“This is not the end, a lot more is coming as part of our culture of giving back to our clients, including free calls from 11p.m to 3a.m and free sim-swaps,” he said.Numa added that the company has so far attracted over 3.2 million customers and still counting.
