Editor,African countries have generally made significant progress in the fight against HIV and Aids. In Rwanda, the HIV prevalence rate is estimated to be about 3 per cent. Several other countries on the continent have also seen remarkable strides in rolling back HIV prevalence.Nonetheless, this progress can easily evaporate without continuous efforts in promoting preventive measures. We must not sit back for a moment thinking that we have done enough. We can promote circumcision, but the basic tools to fight HIV must continue to be underlined: abstinence, faithfulness and using condoms. It’s also important that more people continue to access free HIV therapy and to support those who are HIV positive in any way possible.Jeanne UmulisaRwamagana
