We say it’s time to put away the hats, take a deep breath, and embrace those flyaways. Here’s how to style fashion-forward frizz.When it comes to braids, the fishtail is definitely having a moment. What we love about this style of braid is how low-fuss and relaxed it is. You can dial up the laidback vibe even more by adding a bit of frizz to your fishtail. New York-based celebrity hairstylist Alejandra tells us how to get the style:1. Start by adding Redken Volumizing Mousse, $18, to your damp hair, and then blow dry with a paddle brush.2. Once dry, gather your hair loosely to one side and split in two sections. Begin to take a small section from the right side and bring it to the left side. Then take a section from the left side and bring it to the right side by crossing it over the previous section. This process will create a fishtail braid. Gently tug at your braid to loosen it without pulling out your hair completely.5. Finally, gently go over your braid with a bristle brush to create even more frizzies for that unkempt look.There’s nothing easier than pulling your hair up into a cute ponytail. But sometimes the tried-and-true pony look can get a little ... tired. Create some visual interest by opting for a ponytail that is deliberately messy. Alejandra tells us how to get the style:1. Start by spritzing your dry hair with a volumizing spray, and then layering on a sea salt spray, like Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray, $23.2. Turn your head upside down and blow dry completely.3. Next, begin curling your hair with a 3/4-inch curling iron, wrapping your hair around the rod in different directions. Repeat this process until your entire head is curled.4. Rake through your curls with your finger, softening them into waves. There should be lots of texture and volume in your hair.5. Next, flip your head over again and gather your hair into a pony at the back of your head and secure with an elastic. Flip back up and pull out a few face-framing pieces.6. Spritz some beach spray onto your dry ponytail, and scrunch your pony with your hands to give it even more messy texture.Instead of trying to battle with your hair, embrace its natural volume. While this hairstyle works best on girls with curls, you can still get this style even if you have thinner, straighter hair. Mason tells us how to recreate the look using pin curls:1. On dry hair, create a deep part down the center and spray hair with hairspray, likeWella Dynamic Fix Hairspray, $12.2. Use large hairpins about a finger length or longer, and wrap small sections your hair in a figure eight motion around the pin.3. Once your entire head is covered in pin curls, flat iron the loops of the figure eight with your hair still in the pin, clamping the iron for only a few moments. Repeat this process on your entire head.4. Remove the pins and shake out your hair.5. Comb out your curls, but not too much so that you still keep the integrity of the wave and texture.Agencies
