IN a bid to reach their goal of becoming one of the continent’s best by 2016, the local volleyball federation has put emphasis on the development of youth players.Charles Uyisenga, chairman of Rwanda volleyball Federation said yesterday, “We want to put focus on young players and prepare them for the national team. “We have good young players and we are going to do everything possible to upgrade their level such that they can join the senior ranks with enough experience which can drive them to our vision.” “Our aim is to be among the three top volleyball nations in Africa in the next five years and we think we will reach this target with the kind of work which has started at the grassroots level,” added Uyisenga. This year, the national team never got a chance to play any continental match. The last competition in which Rwanda fielded a national team was during the 2011 All Africa Games.
