SC Kiyovu head coach Jean Baptist Kayiranga wants to see his team compete at the highest level possible and even challenge for silverware but urged patience.Like all local clubs, Kiyovu plan to use more Rwandan players than foreigners in the future, starting with next season and Kayiranga wants to build the team around youthful players, with a mixture of experience led by striker Bokota Labama, who joined from archrivals Rayon Sport last month.“For us, winning the league next season is out of question. We have a very young team and you can’t expect them to win the league so soon. We’re building a team for the future but one that can compete at a high level,” stated the former Rayon Sport midfielder. He added, “We need time to build a team capable of challenging for trophies. Our team next season will be built around young players. Next season will be tough for us and our fans need to be with us whether we’re winning or not, the team needs them and their patience.”“They have to be patient and I will help them to make their team competitive once again,” said Kayiranga, who is having a relatively quite transfer period.Last season Kiyovu finished in 5th position but Kayiranga is hoping for more or less the same next season. “We have used many foreign players for a long time without achieving anything, so we need to give the chance to as many young Rwandan players as possible.” “Our target for next season is to use many young Rwandan players in the first team as we seek to stabilise the team before thinking of wining trophies,” the former Amavubi player explained.Kiyovu last won a league title in 1993.
