INSURANCE firm, Soras, has come on board to rescue the annual Carré d’As volleyball tournament after it had been called off due to financial constraints.According to Rwanda volleyball federation chairman Charles Uyisenga, Société Rwandaise d’Assurances (SORAS) has agreed to pump Rwf6m in the organisation of the Carré d’As tournament for the next three years.This year’s edition which was due to be held on August 11-12 but was delayed to October due to lack of funds.“We have been negotiating with Soras and that is why this year’s tournament was pushed so as to finalise talks for a new deal.”“We are, therefore, happy to announce that the tournament has got a sponsor meaning that the event will be staged this year,” added Uyisenga.Teams expected to spice up the tournament include the top four finishing clubs in the just concluded national volleyball league season.They include APR, Lycée de Nyanza, National University of Rwanda (NUR) and INATEK in the men’s category while APR, RRA, Ruhango and St. Aloys Rwagana will square off in the women’s category. Soras has been sponsoring the Carré d’As tournament since 2002.
