Samsung Electronics is partnering with IT firm Seven Seas Technologies to supply virtual desktops and laptops expected to help government agencies and businesses cut costs.On Wednesday, Samsung unveiled desktops and mini-laptops dubbed Samsung Thin Clients that have no internal Central Processing Unit but rely on remote data storage facilities (cloud).In the partnership, Samsung will offer the devices while Seven Seas is in charge of the link technology.“The key thing here is that organisations will be able to cut costs on hardware, infrastructure and bandwidth by between 50 per cent to 60 per cent,” said Seven Seas Technologies CEO Mike Macharia. Samsung East Africa’s business leader Robert Njeru said the deal would enable them to expand in Africa. “We are targeting to grow our market base and Africa is the place. With such partnership we will not only reach a wider market faster but also tighten our grip on the enterprise market.”
