Dance troupes to liven up ‘Beautiful People’ launch

Rwanda’s famous folk dance troupe, Inganzo Ngari, has promised an iconic performance tonight to spark the ‘Beautiful People’ launch into life.Also expected to perform is Uganda’s acclaimed Ndere Troupe, among others. ‘Beautiful People’ is an inspiration for creative arts, entertainment, cultural education and recreation.The event organised in conjunction with StoneHouse and Kigali Serena Hotel will be held at the hotel premises. The event starts at 6p.m, with the entrance fee of Rwf10, 000 (in the ordinary seats) and Rwf20, 000 in the V.I.P section. “Traditional dances are a major factor in our lives as Africans because they remind us of our strong backgrounds,” explained Nellie Ingabire, the StoneHouse owner.“Having Inganzo Ngari and Ndere Troupe on one stage will be something beautiful but also there will be numerous cultural exchanges.”‘Beautiful People’ will be launched under the theme: “Celebrate the beauty of Rwanda with various cultural dances, music and percussion.”Inganzo Ngari cultural troupe was formed in June 2006 by various university students and artistes, while performing in various traditional art festivals, hence the name “Inganzo Ngari”, which means “variety of talents.” At present, the group troupe comprises 70 members; including singers, dancers as well as poets, composers, crafts and stylists with the aim of promoting and enriching the Rwandan culture.It also nurtures young talents in dance and music; and provides a platform in performing arts. Blending traditional, popular African and Western music, the troupe’s basic rhythms, rich harmonies, acappella vocals and charismatic stage presence combine to uplift the soul and express Rwanda’s great hope for the future and promote peace and co-operation among countries.In the past few years, Inganzo Ngari has improved tremendously and impacted the Rwandan society with its meaningful artistic products such as songs, dances, poetry, drums, traditional-instrumental music, and so forth.On the other hand, Ndere Troupe, formed in 1986 by Stephen Rwangyezi, has been active for 25 years, with high quality performances that have resulted in global fame. With over 60 artistes, Ndere Troupe is similarly poised to continue shaping Uganda’s culture.
