A cinema in Kigali not the Impossible Dream

Editor,I read with keen interest an article in yesterday’s issue of The New Times, titled “I had a dream - A cinema in Kigali”.This reminds me of the famous song “The Impossible Dream” made immortal by renowned singers Andy Williams and Luther Vandross. The New Rwanda, in many ways, has been the result of dreaming the impossible dream. The people of this great country have had “to fight the unbeatable foe”. They had “to bear, with unbearable sorrow”, the atrocities which led to the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. The Government of Rwanda always strives “to right the unrightable wrong”, and inculcates in the minds and hearts of all Rwandans the art of reconciliation and love for one another, “no matter how hopeless” and severe the pain and trauma might have been.Against this hard background, a cinema in Kigali is definitely not the impossible dream and I do believe that with an extremely pro-active Rwanda Development Board and its strong focus on ICT, it will not be long before the country will be able to offer the 3D experience and have millions smiling.Clarence Fernandesclavinmarketing@gmail.com ---------------------------------------------Editor,That was a good piece by Diana. I have personally had this dream for a long time. I even visited the KBC cinema hall at one point. I have attended cinema halls from the day Idi Amin chased away Indians from Uganda. I also attended the Nairobi cinemas. Thank you for pointing this issue. Hopefully, someone with the will and ability will listen and respond to the beneficial entertainment of Rwandans.Edward K.
