Dieudonne Disi has been lined up in tomorrow’s $150,000 Sun feast World 10mm prize money race in Bangalore, India. The $150,000 (approx. Frw84.3 millions) prize money event will have six races; the World Elite 10km for men and women, senior citizens’ run (4 km), wheelchair event (4 km), Open (10 km) and Majja run (5.7 km). Speaking to Times Sport by telephone yesterday from India, Disi said that he is ready to challenge for the top prize. I have spent some good time training for this world race and I think Sunday will be the D-day to prove what I have been sweating for. Some of the leading world stars will be present and this is a good opportunity for me to test myself against them ahead of the Olympic Games, Disi said. Over 10.000 participants are expected to take part in this year’s edition of the World 10km race. Uganda’s Moses Kipsiro and Kenya’s Moses Masai are among male runners who have confirmed their participation. Others are; Qatar’s Mubarak Shami, Asian Games marathon champion and Asian 10,000m champion, Turkeys Selim Bayrak, the 2008 European Cup 10,000m champion and Ethiopia’s Gemechu Kebede, 2007 Ethiopian 10,000m champion and 2008 Paris Marathon winner. The star-studded women’s field would be led by Turkey’s Evlan Ablegessie, the 2008 European Cup winner and Kenya’s Salina Kosgei, Former World Champion Berhan Adere and Deribe Alemu of Ethiopia. The world record in 10km run of 27.02 stands in the name of Haile Gebrselassie of Ethiopia created on December 12, 2002 in Doha, while Paula Radcliff of Great Britain holds records in female section in 10km with 30.21 seconds created in San Juan, Puerto Rico on February 23, 2003.
