APR women volleyball Club overcame a stiff challenge from arch rivals and defending champions Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) to claim this year’s national volleyball championship title on Tuesday.The championship had to be decided on the last day when the military side crushed RRA 3-0 ending their quest for a third successive title.Vast experience counted for nothing as APR won in straight sets.APR finished the season leading with 29 points, three points ahead of RRA while Ruhango grabbed third place with 19 points. St. Alloys Rwamagana came fourth with 12 points with St. Joseph Kabgayi and Nyanza taking the other slots on 10 and 7 points respectively.APR women volleyball coach Samy Mulinge said yesterday, “I am happy for the title victory. We owe it to our players who put up a brilliant performance which allowed our club back into contention for the Africa club championship after two years of absence”.Three clubs APR, RRA and Ruhango were in the running for the title until the last phase of the championship.
