The Ministry of Culture and Sport (Minispoc) has up to May 20 to confirm whether Amahoro stadium will be ready in time for the first game of the 2010 World/Africa Cup qualifiers. Rwanda hosts Mauritius at in Kigali on May 30 in group eight but the Secretary General in Minispoc, Jean-Pierre Karabaranga told Times Sport yesterday said that they are still waiting for the constructors’ report. “We are waiting for May 20 to know the fate of the stadium. The constructors have us the deadline of May 20 for the stadium to be ready for use. “If the stadium is not ready by that date (May 20) we shall need an explanation from them because as was agreed upon in the contract,” Karabaranga stated. Practically, Amahoro stadium will not be ready to host Rwanda’s opening qualifier against Mauritania. With only 14 days left, there are some areas on the pitch where the grass has not yet grown. South African Sports facility construction company, Ramatla Earth Works won the tender worthy $500.000 to renovate the national stadium early this year and the activity to plant grass only started last month. Renovation was also on the drainage system that was completely reconstructed, the irrigation system repaired among others. Ends
