Man City star Tevez flops as Open Golf caddy

ANNES – His troubled relationship with Manchester City coach Roberto Mancini notwithstanding, Carlos Tevez would be well advised to keep his day job.Tevez, the petulant star center-forward for Man City, tried his hand as a caddie in the final round of the British Open, toting the bag of fellow Argentine Andres Romero.Romero began the day at 6 over par, well out of contention at 17 shots adrift of 54-hole leader Adam Scott. Tevez was visiting Royal Lytham & St. Annes as a celebrity spectator, and staying in the same house as Romero.“I played badly on Saturday (7 over par 77), and we were sitting around the house talking about it that night with Carlos,” said Romero. Someone proposed jokingly that maybe Tevez ought to take over caddie responsibilities from Romero’s regular bag man, Aurman Nunez, and Romero replied, “Why not?”The result wasn’t so good; Romero shot a 12-over-par 82 and appeared destined for last place at 18-over for the championship.Tevez admitted that Romero’s golf bag was heavier than he anticipated. Romero, who sought no advice from his novice looper, easily came to the conclusion that Tevez “should continue playing soccer.”
