Editor,I wish to respond to the story titled, ‘APR to release all foreign players’ (The New Times, July 17). Personally, I think this will not solve the problem of lack of talented Rwandan players. By completely releasing foreign players, our football quality will decline and the stadium revenues will drop significantly, because we will have no talent to watch. The idea of bringing in foreign players is because we want our clubs to have talented players and be able to compete on the international scene. We shall not develop our home-grown players with only homegrown talents. I fear we will not achieve that goal in five years. VicKigali ------------------------------------------------- Editor,If there is one person who strongly believes in the potential of local talents as far as football is concerned, it’s me. That’s why I fully support APR’s decision to offload foreign players and replace them with young, local players. Rwandan teams would rather be patient and nurture local players rather than relying on uncommitted mercenaries. And that should be the same case with the national tea. A country should give its youth a chance to shine.IcyojyereUSA
