For the first time, Bujumbura will host this year’s East African post-primary games schedule for August 26 to September 02.Last year Mbarara (Uganda) hosted the games, while in 2010 they were staged in Nakulu (Kenya).FEASSA is the acronym for Federation of East African Secondary Schools Association, which joins the interschool’s champions in various games from all over EAC member states plus South Sudan, who will be making their debut since attaining independence from last year.Since the first games, Kenya has always been the dominant force. Rwanda will be represented by 19 teams.Teams will include G.S Remera-Rukoma and Solidarity Academy (girls’ football), APE Rugunga and ESEG Gisenyi (boys’ football), G.S Indangaburezi (volleyball girls), G.S.O.B and Lycee de Nyanza (volleyball boys), St. Joseph Kabgayi (basketball girls), ETENI Gisenyi and lycee de Kigali (basketball boys).Other are; APAPEGI Gicumbi (handball girls), E.S Kigoma and College de Gisenyi (handball boys), G.S Gahini (handball), while ISETAR Kamonyi will compete in the boys’ rugby fray. The two athletics teams have no yet been selected.In the last year’s competitions, most of the trophies were won by Kenyan teams, three of them were won by Ugandan teams and two handball trophies (in girls’ and boys’) were the only trophies won by Rwandan teams. According to tentative plans, South Sudan will host next year’s competitions and Rwanda will organise the games in 2015.
