Reservists construct roads

RWAMAGANA/KAYONZA–Over 500 demobilised soldiers in Kayonza and Rwamagana districts, have started construction of community roads in Byimana village of Kitazigurwa sector.The feeder roads will benefit residents of Kitazigurwa model village in Rwamagana District.According to Lt. Colonel Eugene Mugabo, who oversaw the activity, the former soldiers were duty bound to help the needy settle properly in communities.“These are men and women who served in RDF...RDF has been at the forefront of the country’s development. We serve our people diligently, which is why we make a difference,” he said.The village is a home to over 200 people, who were settled in a modern way with all basic needs.The Mayor of Rwamagana, Nehemie Uwimana said that the roads will give the village a facelift. He said that settling people in communities would continue until every single family was in a decent home.“We thank so much the demobilised soldiers...if we put their contribution in monetary terms, it would be very huge. We have started a long term community settlement programme and road network is important,” he said.Jacqueline Mukagatete, 42, a mother of four and one of the potential beneficiaries, said that the new village offered new opportunity for her family.She said that apart from the good roads, the new houses were timely, adding that she expected to live in a decent house for the first time.“It is as if I am about to be born again...access good roads lead to a well furnished is what will be my new lifestyle. I was living in a small broken down house and my way to it, was through a tiny path.
