Editor,Allow me to respond to the article titled “King Faisal Hospital staff told to re-apply for jobs” (The New Times, July 5).In the article, an official from the Ministry of Heath said that besides doctors, the other staff will also be remunerated based on the number of cases handled as a motivational strategy.Remuneration based the number of cases handled successfully by medical personnel is a dangerous strategy for doctors. It might create conflict of interest. Some doctors might try to handle easy cases in order to get more money, while avoiding difficult cases! This would be present a great danger to the patients.Antoinette UmulisaKigali
