As Basketball Africa League (BAL) playoffs gets underway on Saturday May 20 several events will be taking place at the sideline of the games and here’s a guide to what the league has in store for us all through the week. ALSO READ:BAL Playoffs among BAL Finalists The season kicks off its final stages with a game between Mali’s Stade Malien and South Africa’s Cape Town Tigers, slated to take place from 4pm at BK Arena, followed by a game between Egypt’s Al Ahly and Rwanda’s REG, that have already sold out bringing the games that day to a close. Rwanda Development Board intends to host a welcome reception dinner later that evening, slated to take place from 10pm at Kigali Convention and Exhibition Village, former Camp Kigali. The dinner will convene some of the league’s major stakeholders, including various team players, celebrities, and the BAL executives. The event is expected to feature a shopping and cuisine experience from 3-8pm on Sunday, making it an ideal time and place for networking and socializing between games. A business brunch with New Fortress Energy, a partner of BAL that will be taking place on Tuesday, May 23 at Boho restaurant in Kimihurura. Boho is a one of modern and stylish restaurants in Kigali. Wednesday, May 24 is a jam packed day for BAL delegates and fans, given that it will feature the BAL 4 Her workshop, an event that intends to empower female athletes, taking place at Umusambi Village, accompanied by a BAL 4 Her showcase slated to take place between the two quarterfinal games of the evening. Thursday, May 25 features a disease elimination session for BAL delegates, taking place in the morning, followed by an innovation summit later that afternoon and scheduled to take place at Marriot hotel. The summit will convene leaders from various sectors including business, entertainment, technology, as well as representatives from the creative industry to discuss how technology is impacting their different fields of work and how to better the sports business industry. Friday, May 26 features a game between the two teams that won’t win the consecutive quarter final games, as well as a game between the Rwanda’s Patriots team and the NBA Academy Africa that will be taking place at BK Arena. Being the last day of the series of games, Saturday, May 27 will feature the final game of the season from 6-8pm at BK Arena, followed by a ceremonial closing party hosted by Hennessy at a location that remains disclosed.
