Editor,Allow me to respond to an opinion piece in The New Times of June 30, under the headline “Johnny come lately on education” by Eddie Balaba. That was a great piece. Rwanda is updating the Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy (EDPRS) and this is one of the critical areas being addressed by the government. It is encouraging to know that we realise the need to change the education system to address the increasing levels of unemployment and productivity. We need more people who can think innovatively and speak out.JanetEditor,What a great piece that was! I hope it will be read by many employers to help enhance productivity. Rwandans need to realise that being innovative is part of life in this competitive world. Rwandans graduating from university must know there are no jobs and that they need to start their own businesses, instead of seeking employment. Eddie’s insights are helpful.Cathy
