APR set up Police Peace Cup final

Rayon got a penalty in the 85th minute when Mbuyu Twite brought down Burundian International Hamiss Cedric but Bokota Labama’s spot kick was saved by goalkeeper Jean Claude Ndoli.For the eighth year running, Rayon, the country’s most supported club will end the season empty-handed. The fate of coach Jean Marie Ntagwabirwa, who doesn’t enjoy the full backing of his players, hangs in balance.APR will now face Police, who they defeated 4-2 in last year’s final. The law enforcers had taken a 2-1 lead but the six-time peace cup winners equalized and went on to score two more in an agonizing defeat for Police. Police also challenged APR for this year’s Primus league championship and defeated the military side home and away but the law enforcers capitulated to give the military side their 13th league title in 18 seasons.Police eliminated AS Kigali to reach the final. The winner of the final will represent Rwanda in next year’s CAF Orange Confederation Cup.MTN Rwanda has sponsored the Peace Cup since 2008. The Peace Cup values are also anchored a government’s policy to promote reconciliation among Rwandans. The winners of the tournament will walk away with Rwf5m, the runners-up and third placed team will get Rwf3 and Rwf2m, respectively.
