Cycling duo set for Swiss clinic

YOUNGSTER Joseph Biziyaremye and Hadi Janvier have landed invites to travel to the world cycling center in Aigle-Switzerland in August for a training clinic aimed at harnessing their potential.Twenty-three year old Biziyaremye, who is very good in hilly terrains and won last year’s Tour of Stage Rubavu-Kigali stage as well as this year’s Kwita Izina’s Rubavu-Kigali route, has a target of landing a professional deal before the turn of this year.It will also be the second training clinic for 21-year old Janvier, who early trained at the African continental cycling center in Potchefstroom in South Africa.The national cycling federation’s Executive Secretary Emmanuel Murenzi thinks the duo “will benefit immensely from the clinic and will help them challenge for podium places in the Tour of Rwanda in November.”Meanwhile, after a two week break, Team Rwanda riders this week started training for the Tour de Roi slated to run from August 31 to September 2.Coach Jonathan Boyer will not make any changes to the team that put up impressive performances in the Tour of Eritrea: Team Captain Nathan Byukusenge and veteran Abraham Ruhumuriza, who also won the recent Kwita Izina cycling tour, will lead the country’s charge alongside Joseph Biziyaremye, Hadi Janvier, Nicodem Habiyaremye and Emmanuel Rudahunga.Having taken part in the race last year, Boyer expects his team to “challenge for podium places in the 5-day event.”
