CAR Super 16 Final Silverbacks vs Burundi The Rwanda national men’s rugby team, the Silverbacks is fired up for today’s CAR Super 16 final against hosts Burundi. Silverbacks reached the final after handing off KIBUBU 69-25 on Thursday. Star full back Vincent Kamali was in peak form as he made five tries and six conversions to stir the Silverbacks to the final. Lucien Bikamba also offered good support with three tries, one of them a marvel to watch as he sprinted 30 yards before touching down. Silverbacks’ manager Paul Ogaa was full of praise for the players as seven of them managed to make at least one try against the sorry defence of KIBUBU, a Belgian based club that comprised of former rugby stars from Kigali, Bujumbura and Bukavu. The team played so well. They stuck to the task at hand and getting 0ver 60 points is a big bonus, said Ogaa before cautioning his charges not to loose focus ahead of the final. Alexis Kamanzi, the Rwanda rugby federation head was also full of praise for the Silverbacks after Thursday’s win. He said, It was wonderful to watch these guys out there. They played with great technique and as a unit. They deserve the win. Burundi lost their opening CAR tie against KIBUBU, a feat which should further boost the Silverbacks who are only playing in their first CAR final. Ends
