Members of the football governing body have tasked Marcel Matiku Habyarimana to take charge of the federation in an interim role until the new FA boss is elected on June 24. Habyarimana, who was serving as federation vice president, was approved during an extraordinary general assembly held in Kigali on Monday. He takes over the reins following the resignation of outgoing president Olivier Mugabo Nizeyimana who left the office on April 19, citing personal reasons including what he termed as “a lot of work.” The general assembly also voted Gorilla FC Chairman and proprietor Hadji Yussuf Mudaheranwa and Inyemera WFC president Ancille Mukankaka to assist Habyarimana lead the executive committee throughout the 39-day interim term. The elections committee led by Adolphe Kalisa also informed the members of the federation the agenda of the Ferwafa elections. During the upcoming elections, the general assembly will fill the vacant positions left by members of the committee who resigned over the past month including former president Olivier Nizeyimana Mugabo.
