SAUDI ARABIA’S heir apparent and interior minister prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud died in Geneva on Saturday, the pan-Arab Al Jazeera TV reported. Nayef, 78, has been ill for a long time and received medical treatment in Switzerland. Saudi state TV confirmed that Nayef has passed away in a Geneva hospital on Saturday. Funeral prayers for the crown prince is expected to be held after sunset on Sunday, according to a statement released by the royal court. Nayef was appointed as the new crown prince by Saudi king Abdullah last October, following the death of former crown prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Nayef has served as the second deputy premier and interior minister of the world’s top oil supplier since 1975.
