The 33-year old finished second in stage one which was won by Algeria’s Lagab Azzedine.Ruhumuriza will now wear the coveted Yellow Jersey in today’s final 158km stage from Rubavu to Kigali.Six Rwandan riders are inside the top 10 and they include Ruhumuriza, Nathan Byukusenge (5), Joseph Biziyaremye (7), Nicodem Habiyambere (8), Hadi Janvier (9) and Emmanuel Rudahunga (10).A total of 51 riders from 9 teams started the race but 11 riders failed to finish on day 1 of the competition which climaxes this afternoon at Amahoro stadium.No Rwandan rider has won an international race before but four time Tour of Rwanda winner Ruhumuriza is in pole position to break that jinx on home soil.
