REG BBC star man Adonis Filer is running against the clock to be fit in time to play the much-anticipated 2023 Basketball Africa League playoffs which will take place at BK Arena from May 20-27. The American-Rwandan appeared to be in pain after he suffered an injury scare on his foot during a team training session on Monday, May 8 at BK Arena. Filer later took to Instagram to share updates on the extent of his injury in a way that suggested that his chances of playing at the BAL were limited. “As hard as I work on my craft, the most frustrating thing in the world is getting injured. It’s like everything is just gone to waste. You work and work and work and then something uncontrollable happens,” the point guard said in a post. “Mentally, that is the toughest thing... I hate missing workouts, practice games, or anything! Makes me feel like a horrible teammate.” “But the sun's gonna shine the next morning and the lord will heal my body, complaining won’t do anything. Gotta lock in and get back right,” he added. However, club coach Dean Murray told Times Sport that Filer’s foot injury is not serious as earlier feared and thus he will be out for about five days. “Adonis is fine, just a foot injury...out a few days and nothing serious,” Murray said in an interview. The American coach went on to say that there is no doubt his key player will be available for the playoffs.
