HUYE – Members of the Rotary Club, Butare branch, have donated an assortment of medical equipment worth € 850,000 (about Rwf680 m) to Butare University Teaching Hospital.The move is aimed at facilitating the hospital to improve its services and provide quality healthcare to patients. The equipment comprises of surgical and respiratory instruments, physiotherapy, theatre and ward gear, among others.Speaking to The New Times after the handover, Emmanuel Havugimana, representative of the Rotarians in Butare, observed that the donation would help the community to benefit from the technology that was formerly lacking in the health facility. “We hope this (donation) will make a great contribution to the lives of many Rwandans who seek for services at this hospital.” The Director CHUB, Dr André Musemakweli, welcomed the donation, stating that the equipment would help improve the quality of services.“We are replacing the old equipment with modern ones; this means that we are going to offer the best quality healthcare possible.With the equipment, we will also improve the quality of education among medical students”.
