RWAMAGANA – Milk Collecting Centres (MCCs) across the country will be turned into fully-fledged business centres.Addressing a week-long veterinary officers’ seminar, the Deputy Director General for Animal Resources extensions, Rwanda Agriculture Board (RAB), Dr. Christine Kanyandekwe, said MCCs will be transformed into one-stop centres for livestock farmers.“Concentrations, animal feeds, veterinary medicine, credit facilities and insemination facilities should be at MCCs. All services must be nearer the farmers...this is what we plan for,” she said.“The training of vets in administering artificial insemination is meant to bring services closer to the farmers”.Odette Uwamariya, the Governor of the Eastern Province, reminded the veterinary officers that Rwanda’s economy depends on agriculture. “The skills and tools you have been given should be useful to all farmers. Disseminate the knowledge you got to the remotest farmer in the country. We are at your service whenever you need our support,” she assured farmers.
