A five-day regional magistrates and judges’ conference commences in Kigali this morning with over 300 foreign and local delegates expected to attend. It is held under the theme, “Universal Jurisdiction and Africa in the context of the administration of post conflict justice”, and organised under the auspices of East African Magistrates and Judges Association (EAMJA). It’s the 10th conference and the first time in Rwanda. “This is a great opportunity for exchanging experiences considering the fact that Rwanda joined this body in September 2010, we believe we have a lot to learn from our counterparts as well as much to give,” said EAMJA spokesman, Charles Kaliwabo. He added that the EAMJA offers a platform for judicial practitioners to enhance their career, protect the rule of law and harmonise judicial systems.
