Rwanda, German state cooperation turns 30

THE Federal State of Rhineland Palatinate in Germany over the weekend celebrated 30 years of partnership with Rwanda.During the ceremony in the state capital, Mayence, the Minister of Local Government, James Musoni, reaffirmed Rwanda’s commitment to the partnership and appreciated the existing good relationship between the two governments.He underscored the need to consolidate what has been achieved and the exploration of new opportunities.“As we celebrate, we need to consolidate our achievements and build and set our future cooperation aspirations,” said the minister.He added: “We need more investments in the youth and capacity building programmes in the areas of technical, vocational and educational training and trade and investment,” Musoni remarked.The cooperation between Rwanda and Rhineland Palatinate dates as way back to June 1982.The state’s Minister President, Kurt Deck commended, President Paul Kagame, for spearheading the transformation of Rwanda.“Under the leadership of President Paul Kagame, Rwanda is becoming a leading model for economic development as a result of good governance. If the country keeps the momentum, there is no doubt that Rwanda would soon be a strong country in Africa,” Deck emphasised.During the celebrations, the Rwandan delegation met with officials from Rhineland Palatinate and agreed on different areas of cooperation, including; strengthening education sector, health, infrastructure development, tourism and trade and investment.The partnership will base on four broad areas of co-operation that include exchange of knowledge; culture friendship and emotional bonding, humanitarian and developmental initiatives.
