Nyagatare Hospital in the Eastern Province has suspended a doctor for allegedly neglecting a 46-year old patient, who died later.A statement from the hospital says the doctor was suspended for one month as investigations continue.Arthur Asiimwe, Director General of Rwanda Health Communications Centre, confirmed the development, explaining it was part of the ministry’s campaign to ensure people access adequate medical services in all health centres.“The Ministry of Health will not tolerate this kind of negligence among health service providers, that’s why the Medical Council is undertaking thorough investigations to find out exactly what could be the cause,” he told The Sunday Times yesterday.He appealed to all healthcare providers to give patients due attention, including upholding professional ethics. The government has of recent mounted a campaign to improve service delivery in the health sector.
