Debris and mudslides resulting from a spell of heavy rains this damaged Musanze-Kigali road, electric poles and houses in Bushoke sector, Rulindo District.Several hectares of crops, and fertiliser were also washed away, at least three houses destroyed, while debris of stones from hillsides covered several parts of the highway, which is under repairs.Henry Randrian Parany, from Loughton International, the company that is supervising the highway reconstruction, said preventive measures will be put in place to ensure sustainable control of mudslides in the future.The highway project will cost Rwf 37 billion. One of Rwanda’s main tourist districts, Musanze is home to the country’s famous mountain gorillas.
