Nine-time national league champions APR have offered Kenyan attacking midfielder Moses Odhiambo a two-year contract deal from Tanzania’s Simba SC. APR team manager Capt. Eric Ntazinda told Times Sport yesterday that the Kenyan international was officially signed in February but had some commitment to finish with Simba before moving (to APR). “We signed him in February but had to give him time to finalize with contract commitments with Simba before coming here,” Ntazinda confirmed. According to The Daily, APR officials were in Tanzania waiting for the end of the Tanzania Premier League before that they could bring the player to Kigali. The troubled Odhiambo, who was accused of performing below par in Simba’s goalless draw with their archrivals, Yanga on Sunday, was also said to have been on the latter’s shopping list. Sources at Simba reveal that both clubs (APR and Simba) agreed a deal before the player was flown to Kigali. However, the club’s secretariat was unaware of any deal between the two clubs but has hastened to add that the player was free to join the Rwandan giants provided they follow the transfer procedure. After conceding the 2007/8 league title to Yanga Africans, Simba has plans of overhauling their squad, retaining 10 players from the current team and adding eight from outside the country. The Kenyan international joined Simba from Moro United two seasons ago. When asked whether the military side plans of signing other foreign players, Ntazinda said, “It all depends on the club management but Odhiambo was signed in a move to strengthen the club for the ongoing national league”.
