FIBA Africa, the governing body for Basketball on the continent, has confirmed that Rwanda will host the U-16 Zone V African Basketball Championship qualifiers in the boys’ and girls’ categories. The qualifiers are scheduled for June 27-30 and are expected to attract countries like Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania, Egypt, Kenya, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Somalia and the hosts Rwanda. After the qualifiers, the teams that will have made it to the African nations tournament will meet in Tunisia for the competition from July 13-22. The host city is yet to be confirmed. The continental tournament will serve as a qualifier for the 2024 FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup for men and women. Algeria, Angola, Egypt, Mali Uganda and hosts Tunisia have already qualified for the continental showpiece. The remaining six teams will be determined through the qualifiers that will unfold in Kigali in June.
