Instead of telling on a friend, guide them

Usually when a friend, brother or sister does something wrong, you always rush to tell your parents or an adult first. Sometimes it’s for the right reasons while others, you may want to come off as a better person. But trust that some things happen to everyone – including you so unless a child is doing something completely out of the ordinary, try to guide them rather than tell on them. Talk to a friend who has done something wrong and tell them why it is wrong to do such a thing. They will be touched and most likely never repeat the misconduct. Reporting sometimes doesn’t help because they will most definitely be punished and sometimes that just causes resentment. If you have told them before that their actions are not good and they do not seem to listen, then by all means, take it to a higher power. At least you know you tried. Sometimes things are better solved as friends than with teachers or parents.I remember during my primary, the class monitor used to like solving all our misunderstandings in class without a teacher present. It brought us closer and we would try to avoid the same mistakes.Simply try to teach a friend the right thing to do. With time, they will learn and they too will be able to teach you the right thing to do as well should you ever go wrong.
