Editor,I do agree that technology is the secret key to a successful business and that financial institutions should leverage technology to reduce their operating costs. Most of our financial institutions have been very slow in upgrading themselves with new technologies. Clearly, they cannot do frequent upgrades but all of our financial institutions should regularly review their existing systems to identify areas where new technology can help in cost reduction. I know many of our financial institution are still using legacy systems for their critical operations. I would, therefore, advise them to reduce their information technology (IT) spending by replace many of their legacy systems. Successful implementation of new technologies will help local financial institutions reduce their operation and maintenance costs.Vincent NyiringiraKigali
