Editor,Sudan and the government of South Sudan leaders must realise that violence will never achieve anything.The military confrontations involving the two countries have caused untold suffering for the people of the two neighbours.It’s true that significant issues have remained unresolved since South Sudan’s independence, including oil, citizenship, borders, debt and the status of contested areas such as Abyei.However, these disputes can be solved without fighting. Africa belongs to us all and there is no justified reason to shed more for fellow Africans.Both countries need to concentrate on using the available opportunities to uplift the welfare of their own people, instead of spending billions on weapons and a useless war. The region should also not stand by but intervene before it’s too late.At the end of the day, it’s the ordinary people who get killed or condemned to endemic poverty.Abdul KarimNyamirambo
