Rwanda international Emmanuel Imanishimwe was among the standout performers as hisAS FAR Rabat side traveled to Stade Mohammed V to hold Wydad Athletic Club (WAC) to a 1-1 draw during Wednesday night’s top of the table clash. The pair was separated by just one point prior to the game and there was pretty much pressure on league leaders FAR who had a critical task to defend their lead in the title race during their away game against the 2021/22 CAF Champions League winners. The visitors were solid in the encounter as they put up an extraordinary display with Imanishimwe who operates as left-back being among their best players on the day. The Rwandan defender was very lively with surging runs down the flank to support the attack when needed whereas he was also on top of his game defensively for 90 minutes. He put the brakes on Mohamed Ounajem as the attacker had no room to operate and was substituted in the 66th minute. Disney Borges scored an own goal which gave WAC the lead in the 45th minute before the central defender redeemed himself by setting up Mohammed Sahd's equalizer in the 97th minute to save a crucial point in Casablanca. FAR Rabat now remain at the summit of the table with 51 points, a point clear of second-placed WAC after 24 games. The club is pushing to win their first league title in 15 years having last won it during the 2007/8 season.
