Editor, I wish to respond to a story that appeared in The New Times of April 23, titled “EAC Council of Ministers vets South Sudan application.”I think for the East African Community to expand economically, we need more members like South Sudan to add more economic benefit to the region.The country is the wealthiest in the region, in terms of oil, and I think it will be prudent if it joins the regional community.EAC still has an issue of unemployment which I think, if Juba is allowed to become a member, more regional citizens would benefit since they will easily access jobs in the world’s youngest nation.Edgar Watson RutayisireCanada
