RWANDA’s national sitting volleyball team is set to undergo a long preparation tour in Europe in May ahead of the London Paralympic games scheduled for August 29 to September 9.The Paralympic Games chef de mission Celestin Nzeyimana told Times Sport yesterday that the team will play friendly matches in Holland and Germany from May 7 to 18.“We want to use this tour to thoroughly prepare the national team. They will engage in many friendly matches with top European sides that have even qualified for London,”“We believe the experience players will gain in Europe will be of an added advantage before the Paralympic games were we are targeting to a triumphant performance,” added Nzeyimana.The sitting volleyball team which qualified for the London Paralympics last year in November has been undergoing intense preparations at the NPC gymnasium, Amahoro stadium under head coach Peter Karreman.According to Nzeyimana, the training stint is supposed to name the final 12-man team which travels to Europe early next month.The sitting volleyball team’s European camp will cost the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) a tune of 21.8 million francs.Apart from sitting volleyball team, the national Paralympic team will also be comprised of Hermas Cliff Muvunyi and Theogene Hakizimana who qualified in 400m T46 race and power lifting respectively.Sitting volleyball team: Emile Cadet Vuningabo, Dominique Bizimana, John Bosco Ngizwenimana, Callixte Twagirayezu, Eric Ngirinshuti, Fidele Ntwawiha, Fulgence Hagenimana, John Baptiste Gahamanyi, John Baptiste Murema, James Rutikanga, Vincent Tuyisenge, Jean Rukundo, J.de Dieu Bisangwa, and Charles Ntagawa.
