William Perry, the player bound to feature for Kigali Titans in the latter stages of the Rwanda Basketball League (RBL), had a performance to remember after putting on a show for Ferroviario da Beira in Sunday’s win over Guinea’s SLAC. The American point guard signed to play for the Titans in January in the league, but he had to go back to Mozambique a month later to feature for Beira at the Basketball Africa League (BAL) during the Nile Conference regular season in Cairo, Egypt. The guard saw nine for 14 from beyond the arc to finish with a BAL tie-record of 41 points to help Beira beat SLAC 109-97. His current scoring form has seen the American join Terrell Stoglin in the list of the BAL all-time scoring leaders. After the game, his teammate Dane Miller praised him for such a feat. “Towards the fourth quarter Will [Perry]carried his team. He had an amazing night. He made a couple of big shots,” Miller said of Perry. “In the first half, they played harder than us. At the beginning of the game, it was definitely a mental lapse.” “As much as people want to say that I had an amazing night, he [Perry] just wanted his team to win,” he further noted. Ferroviario da Beira is one of six teams fighting for four tickets to the BAL playoffs and finals that will take place inside BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda, from May 20-27. They will join home team Rwanda Energy Group (REG), Cote d’Ivoire’s ABC Fighters, Mali’s Stade Malien and Senegalese champions AS Douanes.
