NORTHERN PROVINCE MUSANZE — Parents in Musanze district have been cautioned against child labour. Speaking during seven-day universal education campaign that kicked off last week in Shingiro sector, scores of speakers in succession urged parents to instead enrol children in school. The campaign dubbed ‘The global campaign to promote education for all’ was initiated and supported by Action Aid. This year’s focus calls for the extension of quality education to all children. Domic Hitimana, in charge of education in Action Aid called upon parents to adopt family planning in order to produce children they can support at school and in terms of their feeding needs. He called upon the government to tackle issues which appeared to be hindering the progress of delivering quality education such inadequate structures in schools, lack of enough scholastic materials and lack of enough skilled teachers. The workshop attracted parents and local authorities in Shingiro sector. As part of its interventions in the district education sector, Action Aid also constructed four class room blocks at Gakingo Primary School, and provided scholastic materials to pupils. Ends
